There are so many things to do at camp. Part of what makes Canyon unique is that the daily schedule is built around each camper’s interests and goals. As a camper gets older, the program can be as focused as a specialty camp or as flexible as a general camp. Each camper chooses at least one area of concentration where they can receive great daily instruction to improve on skill development. This area then becomes a camper’s “minor” or “major” depending on grade level. Campers can choose from a number of diverse athletic programs including all of the typical camp favorites like baseball/softball, tennis, basketball, flag football, soccer, etc., or outdoor adventures options like hiking and kayaking.
There are also many artistic and creative options such as broadcasting live on the radio station, performing on stage in the auditorium, creating a masterpiece in arts and crafts or rocketry, and music. In addition to all of these programs, campers can choose to participate in one of our specialty options such as Personalized tennis, Golf or Equestrian.
In addition to the instructional periods, there are elective periods with opportunities for campers to choose daily options where they can continue in their focus area, play a friendly game of volleyball or create something in creativity.
Evenings are filled with exciting activities and events such as whole camp spirit rallies, grade level socials, and campfires among others. There are also special days planned including carnival, color war, minor 49er, and grade level trips out of camp to nearby amusement parks.
